1.The teacher was showing us how to do the experiment when the fire bell rang.

past continuous=serves as a background scene
                                something happened!

2.She had been doing well at school but that changed when she became friends with a different group of girls.

Past perfect continuous
6:00--------------------------------------------------------10:00
earlier past                                                                simple past
/past perfect

3.I'm seeing the doctor at 2:00 this afternoon so I can't go to the lecture.

Present continuous with future meaning (it is a plan and arrangement)<SURE!!>
ex.
What are you doing?
What are you doing tonight?
What are you going to do tonight?

Be V + going to + baseform V=somebody decided to do something and have an intention to do it
ex.
I am riding an airplane in going to Manila tomorrow. (fixed--have an airplane ticket)
I am going to ride an airplane in going to Manila tomorrow. (not fixed--no airplane ticket yet)

4.My sister is going to study economics anf politics when she goes to university.

When+present form=in the future
My sister will study......XXX(decide now)

5.While we're working on the project our boss will be sitting on a beach in Greece!

Future continuous (will be + Ving)
ex.
8:00------------------------------------------------------10:00 tonight
firend: Can I visit you at 8:30 tonight?
I: No, I will be watching TV by then!

similar meaning with Present continuous with futrue meaning
ex.
Alley is meeting her friend tomorrow.
Alley will be meeting her friend tomorrow.

6.If the trend continues, the average income will have increased by 107% by 2020.

future perfect (will have +p.p.)
to talk about situation that will have finished in the specific future time
actually use with by + a fixed time, in+ amount time, before+ future time
ex.
She will have gotten married before 2010.
She will have gotten married by 2010.
In 2 week's time, Alley will have finished studying in Fella.

7. There aren't many places left on the course so you'd better apply soon.

much-uncountable nouns. ex. much money
           -negative & positive sentences ex.I don't have much money.
many-countable nouns ex. many tables
          -negative & positive sentences
lots of-only for positive sentences ex. I have lots of money. We have lots of chairs.
           -not usually used for negative sentences.
